Hymn to Damasen
by

O Damasen, slayer of monsters,
You were born with a spear in your hand and a thick bushy
beard,
You wielded lances and spears as a child, and bore a shield
given to you by clever Eileithyia,
But your essentially peace-loving nature would not let you
take on
Battle-loving Ares in the Gigantomachy.
And yet then when your friend Tylos
was killed by a drakon,
You rushed to his defense, slaying his slayer,
And through Tylos' sister Moria restored him to life.
Give us the courage to fight only when necessary to defend
ourselves and those we love, O Damasen.
