It was named for one of Spacewatch's astronomers, Miwa Block (born 1972). She created the Fast Moving Object website for Spacewatch; this site allows volunteer amateur astronomers to search for and possibly discover new Near Earth Asteroids in Spacewatch mosaic imagery in near real time.
