Marymartha



Asteroid 21479, Marymartha, was discovered on April 23, 1998 by the Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) Team at Socorro, New Mexico. It has a period of 3 years, 76 days and is slightly less than 2 1/3 miles in diameter.

It was named for Manhasset, New York high-school student and science-fair contestant Mary Martha Ferrari Douglas (born 1988), who was awarded first place and Best in Category in the 2006 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for her behavioral and social sciences team project and also received the EU Contest for Young Scientists Award.
