Asteroid 12834, Bomben, was discovered on February 4, 1997 by the Spacewatch progran at Kitt Peak Observatory near Sells, Arizona. It has a period of 3 years, 79 days.
It was named for veteran NASA pilot Craig R. Bomben (born 1962), who worked in the Flight Crew Branch of NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base in California.

Craig Bomben
The meaning of asteroid Bomben seems to be what its name would suggest; Henk Middleraad says explosion. Other possibilities are bombing (either literally or in the sense of failing--or succeeding--hugely)
