Asteroid 21618, Sheikh, was discovered on May 13, 1999 by the Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) Team at Socorro, New Mexico. It has a period of 3 years, 65 days and is about 1 1/3 mile in diameter.

It was named for a Pakistani high school student, Hamza Sheikh (born 1990), of Islamabad, who was awarded second place in the 2006 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for his chemistry project, which had to do with the effectiveness of pea flour as a natural pesticide for stored grain.

The influence of asteroid Sheikh seems to be highly attractive; backward and aggressive mindset; possibly, having a following; organic or natural pesticides.
