Asteroid 4708, Polydoros, a Jupiter Trojan, was discovered on September 11, 1988 by Carolyn Shoemaker at Palomar Observatory near Pauma Valley, California. It has a period of 12 years, 51 days.
It was named for a son of Priam who was a very fast runner and insisted on joining the fighting against the Greeks; his father refused to let him fight, but Polydoros did anyway, and was killed by Achilles.
Polydoros is Greek for "many-gifted."
Astrologically, asteroid Polydoros seems to indicate to be blessed, to be multitalented, to unlock human potential, to take on more than what one is capable of, to act rashly and overconfidently .
