
Asteroid 6639, Marchis, was discovered on September 25, 1985 by Hubert Debehogne at La Silla Observatory near Pedernales, Coquimbo, Chile. It has a period of 5 years, 235 days and is slightly less than 8 4/5 miles in diameter.
It was named for French-born astronomer Franck Marchis (born 1973).
